Lawrence of Arabia is truly a magnificent film. It reminded me how I love long movies, if they are epics especially.
At first I thought it would be a drag to see…mainly because of its length and my lack of fascination with desert movies…but once I started…I couldn’t stop watching. The camel riding scenes in the desert with the film score just did it for me.
When Lawrence comes back from rescuing the man and the boy and riding under the boiling sun, and all his friends gather around him, my eyes water.
Omar Sharif impressed me with his performance. How he pronounced those English words!
Peter O’Toole was phenomenal. That voice he had! His eyes had the color of Nordic Lakes.
This film is courageous and sentimental and even triumphant in some moments. Yet it is also sad.
